Dallas Design Firm Embodies Luxury
Wilson Associates chooses only the best for Chancellor’s House, the new luxury boutique hotel in Oxford, Mississippi
The world-renowned interior design firm, Wilson Associates, seeks to embody modern luxury with a nod to the traditions of Southern elegance for the Chancellor’s House luxury boutique hotel under construction in Oxford, Mississippi. Having designed Armani Hotel Dubai, Montage Deer Valley, Las Ventanas al Paraíso, and Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the firm is synonymous with luxury.
Using the same skills that have drawn clients from Forbes billionaires to royal families, Wilson Associates’ selections for Chancellor’s House serve to elevate the already-stunning architecture of the building. The hotel, opening this summer, will feature the very best in luxury amenities, and now Wilson Associates has ensured that it will feature furniture to match.
One of the designs selected for the Chancellor’s House library is the Dessin Fournir Andraw Wing Chair, which has a classic silhouette and beautifully carved stretchers with a transitional design that gives the chair a modern edge. Chosen for style as well as comfort, Dessin Fournir uses traditional Old World furniture-making techniques to ensure the quality and durability of every piece.
Some pieces look as if they have been pulled directly from the library of the Vanderbilt Lodge, such as the Nemours Bench from Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman. The nailheads and seams are all done by hand, and their craftsmen use the labor-intensive technique of eight-way hand tying that has long been considered a symbol of expert construction in the industry. The method yields a more comfortable and long-lasting piece of furniture.
Other pieces include:
- Chandeliers from Ironies Chandelier with curved mirror panes and sea glass beads.
- Sofa End Tables in walnut from Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman
- Coffee tables from Baker Furniture
- And Wing Chairs from Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman, with nailhead trim and button tufting details, upholstered in Moore & Giles leather.
According to Lisa Patton, the Wilson Associates Project Designer taking the lead on Chancellor’s House, “The chandelier from Ironies, for instance, really embodies the tone of elegance and style for the Chancellor’s House.”
Wilson Associates creates new definitions of luxury for an era that’s increasingly well- travelled, connected and culturally diverse. The firm embraces their legacy of achievement, dynamic talent and collaborative spirit to create the world’s most iconic hospitality projects. Founded in 1971, the firm is committed to providing the highest level of luxury design and client service through a full range of design and architectural services.
“We’ve designed palaces, private jets, skyscraper hotels and opulent casinos across six continents,” said Michael Crosby, Principal and Design Director of Wilson Associates, Dallas. “We approached The Chancellor’s House Hotel with the same level of design excellence, and I feel we’ve designed a timeless gem that will speak for itself.”
The entire hotel boasts classic Southern style in a way that creates a nostalgic sense that an Ole’ Miss alumnus is finally coming home. The lobby space sets the tone of the property with a warm fireplace, comfortable furniture and a barrel-vaulted ceiling. Subtle nods to Ole’ Miss can be found in accessories and artwork, though the design inventively blends old and new elements together.
