A boutique hotel pairs itself with the Steinway experience. Running through a firefighter academy or putting the latest car model through its paces on a track are exciting, but effective experiential education need not be so intense.

An example of this took place in New York last month, when hotelier Fred Alias, CEO of Chancellor’s House Management Group, unveiled details of the high-end boutique hotel his company is opening soon in Oxford, MS, to travel writers in a very unusual venue: instead of the typical private dining room in a restaurant, the event was held at pianomaker Steinway & Sons’ flagship showroom off Times Square.
